joining in.

So I've decided to join Amy in her blogging adventure -- The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge by Gwen Bell. I think it will be interesting and prompt me to write more. I have decided to do two a day and be caught up with the challenge by the 16th. We'll see. And as I start thinking about this first question, I realize that I have a terrible memory. Maybe this challenge will help with that as well.

December 1: Trip. What was your best trip in 2009?

I have narrowed it down to two-- California with Abigail OR October beach trip with dad and my little family. It's a hard decision. Both were short, and relatively uneventful, but very enjoyable. California was special for many reasons. I had never been, a good friend from high school was getting married, it was the first time I'd left Justin and the babies like that, and I got to go with my dearest friend. I also conquered my new-found fear of flying. Even the layover was enjoyable, but I have always liked airports. One of the best moments, for whatever reason, was during a long layover when Abby and I walked all the way over to one deserted end of the building. We just sat there and did homework and such, but it was fun. I think I enjoyed being childless for just a short time. It will probably be a long time before I am able to make such a trip again.

The October beach trip was also enjoyable, for different reasons. All of my children were with me/us, so it wasn't as relaxing; and the weather was bad, so we didn't get out much. It was just a simple trip, a nice time to get away from daily life. Justin and dad fished a lot, and the babies and I spent time coloring and playing with new toys that "pop pop" bought them. We did venture out to the sand on several occasions. Elsie and Judah played just as they would have if it had been 80 degrees and sunshiny.

Think I'll post pictures of each trip. I've decided it's a tie.
