1) I'm very thankful to have a computer
2) I would be more thankful if I had a computer that works
3) MY COMPUTER DOES NOT WORK!
...sorry...

America again has a place in our hearts
"I am part of the first Norwegian generation that could not love America," said Tom Hetland. For 200 years, Norwegians have been emigrating to the United States, "the promised land." For my grandfather and my father, America represented "the safe, strong big brother who stood fast against Nazis and communists." It wasn't always perfect, but it was on our side. But for my generation, America was synonymous with Vietnam and Watergate, then Iran-Contra and the toppling of Salvador Allende in Chile, and most recently Iraq and Guantanamo. America was "a dark, twisted country" that killed its best men, Martin Luther King Jr., and Rober and John Kennedy. Norwegian writers of my generation spoke of the love for America as a thing of the past. Our singers sag of the America dream as a dream unfulfilled. But now that has changed. With the election of Barack Obama, America proved it can still "be the beacon of freedom, prosperity, and progressive politics that it once was for millions of people around the world." A nation that was until recently "so full of fear, brutality, and extremism" has chosen "democracy, humanism, and common sense." Now my generation of Norwegians can finally join our forefathers and "love America."
-Tom Hetland, Stavanger Aftenblad
...It is so interesting to me to hear what other countries think of America.

apparently norwegians are going ga-ga over obama, even though the dust seems to have settled some here, it's still a huge deal back home. i find this fascinating...

Steven, yes we're coming! yay!
Kristian, it is very strange... especially since he's not even actually the "active" president... and who knows what will happen when he is. maybe good, maybe bad.
JR, i don't know what the problem is with the computer. it just has problem with wireless connections. plus, i just want a new one, so i find lots to complain about.
